I'm not going to "resolve" to get in shape or to get my financial situation under control, because like
moony said, those are things I should be doing anyway.
This year, I want to spend more time each day with a book in my hands than a keyboard.
This year, I want to spend at least a half hour every day, weather permitting, in the sunlight.
This year, I want to kick one bad food habit: That of having a snack right before bed.
This year, I want to kick one bad body habit: That of going to sleep at one o'clock or later.
This year, I want to write one work of fiction of which I am proud.
At this time next year, I want to be proud of myself for what I've accomplished in the past twelve months, rather than simply happy in spite of it.

Read, analyze, come to your own conclusions. Not really an "eye-opener", but definitely a different setting on the focusing lens.

If any of you like shoes, I've listed a gorgeous pair of Manolos on eBay. Wore them once, just don't have matching outfits or closet space for them anymore.
So on the subject of Watchmen, I have many things to say, but only one for right now:
Gordon Freeman survived a strikingly similar physics-lab accident without becoming a megalomaniacal psychopath consumed by his own existence and causing everything he touched to be destroyed.

Your thoughts, please:
Adopting a newborn (well, okay, as newborn as they let you have them, ~4 months) dog of a certain breed from a registered breeder, with background and papers, but with no intent to show or necessarily breed the dog,
VS
Adopting a dog of indeterminate age and breed from a shelter.
If someone "wants" a certain breed of dog, due to liking the looks or temperament or requirements of said breed, is it shallow or inconsiderate to seek out a "well-bred" dog rather than adopting a dog of mixed or other breed who is in need of a home, and possibly in a life-or-death situation? Why or why not?

First day of school.
Haven't had one of these in a while.
